FRIENDS OF CLAINES CHuRCH

Stephen Agnew moves on.

The Reverend Stephen Agnew is leaving Claines to become the Rector of St Mary’s, Old Swinford, Stourbridge

Stephen celebrated his last service with us on Sunday 6th May after serving the parish and people of Claines for 12 years.

Stephen, his wife Jean and their family were joined by parishioners for a farewell evening on Saturday. They were presented with a Coffee Table and a cheque from grateful parishioners to help furnish their (much larger!) rectory.

As part of the presentations tributes were paid to recognise Stephen and Jean’s contribution to the music and arts of Claines.   Entertainment was provided by The Muggles, The Instrumental Group, CATS, soloists Amy Palmer, Caroline Causier, Vanessa & Helena Gunter and George Sansome.

We wish Stephen and Jean every best wish for the future and send our very best wishes to their new parish and parishioners.

“This is my Father’s glory, that you may bear fruit in plenty and so be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you”

MOMENTS FROM STEPHEN’S MINISTRY IN CLAINES

Churchwardens Rachel Cramp and Phil Kear paid tribute to Stephen’s service to the parish which has been a time of great ministry and great fun also. In his time Stephen has trained two curates, established the Muggle Choir; led the parish on International pilgrimages, supported the development of a music group; overseen numerous restoration projects, most notably the re-wiring and lighting of the church, but most importantly secured a lasting place in the hearts of Claines parishioners for his faithful and caring service.
