CLAINES BELLS ON EBAY!
A rare and unusual photograph of the Bells of Claines Church has surfaced on Ebay!
The photograph, shown below, shows 8 of Claines Bells in Taylors Bellfounders, of Loughborough. The inscription reads:
“CLAINES CHURCH BELLS. WORCS. AUGMENTED TO 8 BY 3 NEW TREBLES. 1927. TENOR 13 CWTS 3 QRS 26 LBS.
TAYLORS, BELLFOUNDERS, LOUGHBOROUGH”
A plaque in the Church Tower recalls the addition of these three new bells, a gift from the benefactor Ernest Thomas, in memory of his father. This is shown below.
Ernest Thomas was a significant benefactor to Claines. He funded another two bells in memory of his mother in 1946 and also the Church Clock in memory of his wife in 1947.
We are working on a full history and description of Claines Bells and hope to update soon.
