Claines Church 24 hour Big Bible Read!

On Saturday morning 22nd October, at 7.30 members of the congregation of  St John the Baptist, Claines, began a 24 hour sponsored Big Bible Read!  It was to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the King James Version of the bible.  It was a daunting task to undertake, but ladies, gentlemen and children read brilliantly in 30 minute sessions, some doing several sessions during the 24 hours. 

Saturday drew to a close but for many, the Big Read was just beginning... as it continued throughout the night!  Sarah Cottrill, who had come up with the idea, was the last to read, finishing at 7.30 on Sunday morning, as the church clock chimed the half hour.

Sarah said: " It was an amazing effort, with 278 chapters read, which took us up to Samuel 2!  It was a wonderful way to to celebrate both the 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible, but also to commemorate Bible Sunday.  Next year we hope to continue from where we left off...!"
